Autistic Children Having a Blast With ABA Therapy!

Autistic Children Having a Blast With ABA Therapy!

Autistic Children Having a Blast With ABA Therapy!

One of our frequent and very appropriate questions we hear from interested parents is “What is ABA?”.
We love that question because we absolutely LOVE talking about our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program and LOVE how it helps our fabulous patients! ABA traces its roots to the 1960’s when early techniques were developed and focuses on how children learn. Using positive reinforcement in engaging 1-on-1 sessions helps the child increase positive social skills and desired behavior – and above all everything we do is FUN!!! Currently ABA therapy is endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Autism Society of America and other organizations based on it’s successful and widely-praised impact in treating autism over the last 30 years.

ABA is also important at PediaPlex because it serves as the anchor of our treatment philosophy, which is to provide CLARITY for our families and COMPREHENSIVE treatment for our patients.
That’s always been our mission and always will be! We lean heavily on ABA therapy because, according to The Autism Speaks organization, many studies have shown ABA techniques can produce improvements in communication, social relationships, play, self care, school and employment. These studies involved age groups ranging from preschoolers to adults. Results for all age groups showed that ABA increased participation in family and community activities.”.

Our center is purposefully designed to integrate ABA with other onsite therapy services such as Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy, so you have multiple resources and tools available as your family navigates through it’s autism journey.
Every patient is given a thorough and individualized Plan of Care and all the needed attention from our loving therapists! PediaPlex staffs Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBA’s) in order to meet the highest standards of care for your child.

As we mentioned earlier, the first thing we hope you notice about the ABA Center is how much FUN we make if for our patients.
Most of our kiddos are from 2 to 12 years old (although we treat through teens) so there is definitely no lack of color and excitement when you walk through our doors. We created our rooms to have a unique theme just perfect for our patients such as the Spaceship Room, Pirate Room, Kid Cave, Bear Room, Under the Sea Room and the always-popular Dino Gym!! These rooms provide a wonderful and super-fun environment for the kids but you can often see the therapists enjoying the sessions as much as the kids! We just love our patients at PediaPlex… Did we already say that!?

We hope this answered some of your questions and want to invite you to learn more about the ABA therapy at PediaPlex.
We offer guided tours of the center by appointment so you can get a first-hand look at the fantastic environment we provide for your kiddos. Meet the staff, ask questions, observe children in session… and see what it means to find true collaborative care therapy and all under our PediaPlex roof.
