Meet our Staff Spotlight Dara

We would like to introduce everyone to our Staff Spotlight, Dara! Dara is a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) here at PediaPlex and she has worked with us for about a year and a half now.

About Dara

Dara started her college career in the medical field and then found her way to the speech world where she felt it was the perfect fit. She chose to work with kids because she knows how important their development is and how it creates a springboard for their futures. Some of Dara’s favorite things to do are to experience new things like food, culture, and traveling, as well as running/playing sports, reading, watching movies, and playing games. While in college, Dara was on the inaugural women’s soccer team! While she doesn’t have any dogs herself, she is an amazing aunt to her ‘neph-dogs’ Lux and Titan.

About Dara

Dara’s favorite part about PediaPlex is “the community that we have established; between co-workers and families, I appreciate the way that we learn from each other. It feels like home to me, and that means so much! I enjoy the variation of need and collaboration that occurs with ST, OT, MH and ABA to best assist our clients.”

What is a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)?

For those who don’t know, an SLP is a therapist who works to prevent, evaluate, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. SLP’s provide education to family/caregivers and other professionals, as well as work collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines. An SLP will also work with individuals that need alternative communication (ACC) systems as they navigate severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or other neurological disorders. A huge part of PediaPlex is our focus on collaboration; we combine ABA, Speech, and Occupational Therapy into a child’s plan of care.

A Special Message
Dara, we wanted to show you just how much you mean to us and our families so we met with one of your kiddos parents so we could share this special message with you:
We love Miss Dara! We have noticed a big difference in our son’s speech since he started Speech Therapy with her. She not only has taught him how to improve his speech, but she has made him aware of how he can listen and self-correct when he hears it. Andrew loves going to Speech Therapy because she makes it fun and interesting for him. We are so thankful for all she has done for him!” – Vicky B.

Thank you, Dara, for all of your hard work! You are a true Rockstar!

If you have any questions/concerns about Speech Therapy, visit our website or give us a call today!
